We did good today. consensus is that fresh 401k money going to work this week will take this market higher. I think those are the odds to go with. I still think we have good momentum heading toward year end.
Momentum
The only thing that I can see rattling this market is the election. And I don't think it will. So here we are, up hugely for the year, earnings are pretty much over, I don't see anything on the horizon that should cause a major pullback before next year. Maybe companies coming out with mid-quarter earnings warnings but it would have to be pretty extreme to cause a meltdown. These next two months are historically the strongest of the year. Of course, Sept and Oct are historically the weakest and this year they weren't. So there are some extreme things going on with the market this year. Who knows where we go??

Monday, monday
Selling contained out of the gate. If we gain traction and close higher today I think the bull is in tact and we could be hitting new highs into year end. But then again, maybe not. I don't think the election matters a bit to the market, at least it shouldn't. The bigger worry is the fed and inflaction. I am expecting a record breaking holiday shopping season, another thing that could keep us strong into year end.

Okay, Not Strong
Well, looks like my prediction was wrong. Selling across the board, and pretty heavy. Could be a healthy thing as long as it remains contained, which I would say that it is so far.
Still Hoping
I am still seeing signs of a rally emerging by days end. I am well off the days lows and have been inching higher. Really been fascinating to watch how this market has clawed it's way higher. I wish there was a way to know exactly why we are moving higher. It has totally surprised me.
GDP
The GDP number came in light, which is great. I suspect that the market will slowly gain traction throughout the day and close higher yet again. Hoping and yes even praying that we can sustain and keep pushing higher from here.

And Again
I keep saying this, we are going higher and higher. I am hearing so many people who are convinced that we are only heading higher even well into next year. They must be seeing something I don't. But having a lot of people who are skeptical is a very healthy thing and we certainly have a lot of skeptics out in the investment world. I will be prepared to so some serious selling come January if this strength continues.

Strong Yet again
Once again things are starting to get jiggy. Small caps are leading the charge as is foreign. I think I should beef up my foreign holdings. So far not regretting beefing up large cap.

This and That
Apparently this has been a very good earnings season. In spite of numous misses by some of the most high profile of companies. TI being the latest miss last night. It sure didn't feel like a great earnings season to me, but okay, I guess the numbers speak for themselves and the vast majority of companies met or beat their numbers.
Reading that there is a lot of money flowing out of bonds into stocks. That would explain where the recent strength is coming from. There is a good chance this strength could continue through year end. I can't believe that HPQ hit 40 yesterday.

Gonna take you higher
How much farther and how much longer can this go on? This run has been unbelievable. It seems to good to be true. large cap growth is really pulling ahead today.

Still the Same
This markets strength continues. What is going to stop it? Could be the fed next week, could be the dems taking control of congress. It will be something and the longer we go without a decent pullback the more worried I am that we are going to get a major selloff. I again, don't understand where the buyers are coming from. It makes no sense, economy should be slowing, many company's didn't report a good quarter and lowered guidance, there should be more earnings problems in the future, yet someone out there is plowing money into this market. The only way this continues is if we get the soft landing senario, the goldilocks economy.
Some Selling
Finally we have a selloff. It is about time. Earnings haven't been that great in my opinion, with the exception of google. Cat blowing up today really seemed to suck the life out of the market before the open. Lets hope for a nice slow selloff that lasts the day. This could set us up for a decent week next week, though the fed will be meeting and I am hearing that the fed could surprise and be raising rates even higher, before they finally start cutting.

Another day
Yet higher once again. Gotta love it. Up today, foreign and once again small caps. Damn those small caps, they are suppose to be bad to own here according to consensus. Duh. Ain't gonna happen with me. They are my best performer and I suspect they will remain so.
Google earnings a killer, they are up 30 points after hours. They seem to be giving tech a little lift after hours.
Is this all getting a little too good to be true??

Still stoked
Pretty happy with this action so far today. As I said, I don't understand what is bringing in the buyers but obviously someone is still buying. There were many earnings misses today. Yet my tech fund is up. I don't know why people are still feeling really bullish about the prospects for continued strong growth. I am hearing the goldilocks economy being tossed around. Maybe. The would really give Bernanke some cred, though I doubt that he deserves it.
Earnigs Redux
The futures are now lower, as they should be. I feel that many of the earnings numbers that came out are not good. I am basically living on a prayer that somehow wall street keeps feeling good. I don't understand the real driver or this market over the last few weeks.
The election, and I feel democrats are going to win, could become a short term negative. Yet I feel that havings dems in control of congress with a rep president won't be a bad thing. Having dems in control of congress with a dem president, that may be a bad thing.

Cnbc
After massive cheerleading by Cnbc when the Dow went over 12,000 we are now heading lower. Yet another test for the bulls. Each of these tests is important for the overall health of the market. We need to hold to the close for the bull to remain in tact.
CPI
We got a very good CPI number and the futures are rockin'. The open should power higher. In fact futures are continuing higher and higher.
Regretting the etf sales I made last month. I would have made a nice chuck of money if I would of held on. Instead I am up, but not up like I would have been.

Earnings
Earnings are coming in mixed. With Mot missing big and down after hours. Intel and yahoo guiding lower, yet they are up in after hours. Overall it looks like tech is up more than down in after hours trading. Brokers putting up good numbers. Hard to say how the market is going to open tomorrow. The CPI number comes out at 7:30. If it is anything like the PPI number then it could be another day of rough sledding. I cut my loses in half and am overall pretty happy about how today played out. Things are still in favor of the bulls.
Down and Down
Everything down across the board today. If it holds right where it is currently I would consider this a healthy selloff. The pause that could refresh and possibly take us higher. It the selling picks up it could be the beginning of a longer term selloff, which would not be a good thing. Hopefully there won't be too many earnings blowups.
The Test
There is going to be pretty big selling pressure out of the gate today. Will this break the rallies back? I think it could. We are due for a fall. The question is when the dust settles does even more money than before come charging into this market?
Intel downgraded. I don't know if anyone cares about intel like they did five years ago. I doubt that they do. Cisco has really made a nice run here.

Another new Dow high
I could care less about a new dow high, but the media is obsessed with it...
How much longer can we keep heading higher? Suppossedly this earnings season is looking very good so far. Is the future really going to be even better? I hope so, but it would seem that the work done by the Fed over the last almost 2 years should be having some impact. That impact would be slowing the economy. That shouldn't bode well for future earnings.
I hope we aren't heading towards a day, or days of reckoning. Which would be a prolonged selloff. This action seems too good to be true.

Not much buying
Things are staying pretty flat so far today. It would be great if they stayed that way and we closed just a little green. Things have gone up to far to fast. It seems like most everyone is expecting a big swift selloff. This is why it might not happen....

Giddy
This market has been positively giddy. On fire. It has been fabulous, but what goes up must go down. There are a slew of high profile earnings on the plate for next week. Any big misses and any more pig-headed Fed comments could start to suck the life out of this rally. Appartently the weak economic numbers out this morning were a welcomed sign as the market now thinks for certain that the fed is done. I have all the money I want at the moment in the market. My plan is to let it ride into next year. The year end is typically the most bullish of the year, we need decent earnings and fresh money to keep flowing in and chasing the market higher for the good times to continue.
Stocks I hate
Walmart,ge,msft, intc,c, all dogs. I don't mind having them, with other stocks, in a mutual fund but I would avoid owning them out right.
Somehow I am now drifting higher. There has been some powerful inflows of money into this market over the last few weeks. It must have to do with an outflow of money in comodities, housing and bonds. Yet if the economy is slowing you have to wonder if earnings aren't going to be taking a hit in coming quarters. I think the market is expecting the next fed move to be a cut. It had better be or there will be trouble.

Massive
So far the buys I have made over the last month have paid off. But today's action appears frothy. We are heading towards some selling, and it could get ugly. The question is what is driving t his action? Is it smart money or dumb money? Right now things are rockin! Up 1.22% today..
Dip Buyers
The dip buyers have arrived big time. People hating that they are missing out on the move up are putting money to work. This is great but the longer we go without a selloff the bigger the selloff will be when it arrives. Unless we are heading back into another bubble. I don't think we are. There are a lot of signs that a recession is ahead for 2007. Will wall street still think stocks are cheap in a couple of months? If the new money coming in is money that has been chasing real estate I think this rally could have some long legs.
Up and Away
So far everything is higher today. Pretty sweet. Can this strength last into year end? It is going to depend on how earnings play out from here. Many high profile companies have been weak. Now the market is expecting fed rate cuts to happen later than sooner. Doesn't seem to matter right now.
Hp stock. How much higher can that go? It is hard to believe. If there is any more of a hint to scandel in the company I think it could sink like a rock.

Taking a Hit
The market held up pretty well in spite of the Fed comments, and a very suspicious plane accident in NY. I wouldn't be surprised if they find that this crash was an intentional act. If that is exposed overnight it will be interesting to see how the market takes it on the open. I have pretty much deployed all of my cash and plan on sitting tight through the end of the year. If we start drifting lower from here I may take quite a hit.
Someone out there is noting that 10/11/06 is 09/11/01 upside down. Who comes up with this stuff?

Bought It
Bought some iwf. Screw it. I've waited and waited for a substantial pullback and it hasn't come. Do we get a major selloff here? I don't know but I put the last of my remaining cash to work and am going to let it ride into year end.
The Dip
Today we will have a good test of the markets. With earnings season starting we are so far weak. Several misses are going to be pressuring the open. Yesterday I should of checked as to when many of the high profile companies were due to report before I jumped in and bought. It will be interesting to see if the dip buyers can make an appearance at some point today.

nibbled
Bought some more vtv. Couldn't wait for the sellers who haven't been showing up so I decided to jump in. Now it looks like the sellers are appearing and that I may have bought at the high for the day. Par for the course.

Once Again
We end higher. My selling last month has cost me about another 1% gain that I could of had. I'm glad we are higher but I don't understand why meeting lowered earnings estimates demands higher stock prices. It really shouldn't. We are probably over bought right now. I wonder if the money coming into the market isn't money that would of been going into the housing market and is now looking to chase returns back in stocks. Bring it on, we will continue higher, but there may be a price to pay down the road.
Hanging In
The market is holding up well. I keep thinking that something is going to be the tipping point to drive the market lower and yet we hang in there. This year has held up surprisingly strong and it has fooled a lot of people. Decided that buying iwf will give me a very good well balanced portfolio but am still waiting for a buy signal. Will have to start putting some money to work soon.

Fed Speak
Fed's speaking and threating to suck the life out of this market. Something is going to slow it down sooner or later. They are saying they still may need to raise rates. Earnings season is underway. So far they have came in okay. NAS is higher again, damn I never thought tech would remain this strong.
week one
Closing in on the end of week one of October. I need to get some money put back to work. I have been patiently sitting out with some cash since early last month. There should be a decent pullback right around the corner. I need to start buying on the weakness. iwd has become the best performer that I own, even beating out foreign. That says a lot. Large cap is beginning to get some legs.
Latest mutual fund data shows that people are still pooring money into foreign. By a ratio of about 4 to 1. Many people think this is a bad sign. I think if you have your sites on long term, foreign is going to be the place to have about 40-50% of your money. Has it already ran to far? I don't think so. Foreign countries have a lot of growth ahead. They are just starting and American capital is helping them tremedously. It really is potentially a bad sign for America long term as foreign businesses and foreign capitol grows much faster the the US and becomes at some point a threat to our economy.
Abby Joseph Cohen, the woman who had Enron and Worldcom as her top picks just before they crumbled, is on Cnbc. Haven't seen her in years. I think this is a bad sign. She loves tech. I am surprised by the strength that has continued in tech.

Frothy
Now This is a frothy market. Everything up big right now. The shorts must be getting pounded. I would normally be selling into this strength and waiting for the pull back. But where has the pull back been? It has to happen sooner or later.
Thinking about selling half of my hp shares. How long can hpq keep going higher and higher?

Fed Head Ben
With the Fed due to speak shortly this could really give the market either some mojo or start a stampede for the door. Somehow we are heading higher again. This time develped foreign and small cap are showing jig. It is going to be difficult to put money to work if we continue like this.

Rallying
And so we rally. Strange. With all the uncertainty out there. Hp stock up huge. Foreign up huge. Are we in the final throws of the rally?
October
We are heading toward the close of the year. September was surprisingly strong. Will that mean that we turn weak this month. We appear to be heading to a soft open. I will be looking for some places to buy vtv and iwd and maybe a little xle. Lots of talk about recession going into next year. I think it is possible. If the fed were to surprise with another rate hike I think that will spook the market.
Hoping that hpq will stay strong through year end. I will unload some of it in January.
